My son did not realize that his father's treatment of me helped to keep me sick, when he told me that no man would ever want me except to have sex with me in 1984. My drinking accelerated from 1984-1987 because of the pain and shame from him, and I suffered from depression like my mother did. The Twelve step programs saved my life! Yes, mother people DO change! If they want to, and are willing to do the footwork.
